Life beats down and crushes the soul, and art reminds you that you have one.

Stella Adler - acting studio

Of all the arts, abstract painting is the most difficult. It demands that you know how to draw well, that you have a heightened sensitivity for composition and for colors, and that you be a true poet. This last is essential.

Wassily Kandinsky (1866 - 1944)

"A few years ago when I was still doing more realistic style painting, a friend in Holland told me that she wanted a painting for her bedroom. But she wanted an abstract.

So I made this romantic series for lovers.

They began with the idea of white roses, but the white soon became coloured, and then became red. Red for passion and life. Pink for well-being and contentedness, yellow and orange for light. Blue for the surrounding comfort of hopefulness and appreciation.

The titles are from the poetry of ee cummings."

color note: Nos 2 and 4 should look the truest
